About you
You are an experienced leader with a proven track record leading dynamic, multi-faceted operations - ideally within leisure, sport, wellness, or hospitality. Commercially astute, you bring proven financial acumen, with hands-on experience in budgeting, P&L responsibility, and cost control.
A natural people leader, you excel at recruitment, staff development, coaching, and motivating teams to perform at their best. You are passionate about delivering outstanding customer experiences and pride yourself on creating a premium environment for members and guests alike.
With experience in marketing, events, and community engagement, you have a good commercial instinct and the ability to spot and maximise business opportunities. You balance operational detail with strategic thinking and thrive on problem-solving, organisation, and resilience.
Flexible and hands-on, you're prepared to work evenings and weekends as needed to support the success of the business.
About the role
We are seeking a dynamic, experienced General Manager to lead and grow all aspects of our operations. This is a unique opportunity to shape and grow a flagship facility in Kent, leading an ambitious and passionate team that prides itself on excellence.
You will be responsible for ensuring operational excellence across tennis, fitness, wellness, food & beverage, and member services. Alongside driving financial performance, you'll cultivate a strong team culture and continue to elevate the Avenue Tennis experience.

Key responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership, direction and vision across all departments (tennis academy/coaching, gym & classes, wellness & spa, restaurant/bar, membership services).
Develop and implement business plans to meet or exceed membership, revenue and profitability targets.
Ensure high-quality customer/member satisfaction and retention; maintain the premium standard of service.
Oversee staffing: hiring, training, performance management, scheduling, and fostering a strong team culture.
Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting; identify cost efficiencies and opportunities for growth.
Monitor and maintain all facilities and equipment to the highest standards.
Drive marketing, promotions, and events to maximize engagement, participation, and brand awareness.
Ensure compliance with health & safety, legal, licensing, and regulatory requirements.
Introduce innovations and improvements (service enhancements, digital tools, membership experience, etc.).
