We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic Consultant in General Medicine with special interest in Gastroenterology. This is a whole-time post offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Medic to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.We are a small, friendly department that works closely together. We are able to deliver a wide range of services to the patients of Southport and Ormskirk and want to continue this in a more comprehensive way.Applicants are required to hold Membership of the Royal College of Physicians(UK or equivalent qualifications), to be fully registered with the General Medical Council, and to be on the Specialist Register or due to obtain their CCT within six months of the date of interview. CESR candidates must have written GMC confirmation of successful application.Interviews will take place on Monday 9th June 2025 at Whiston Hospital L35 5DRMain duties of the jobThe post holder will join an integrated gastroenterology service which comprises: Three Consultant Gastroenterologists, two locum Gastroenterologist, one visiting Consultant Hepatologist, three middle grade Doctors (one ST and two SAS), and junior medical staff.The post holder will:Undertake Gastroenterology clinics with speciality clinics available depending on clinical interestCarry out inpatient ward and board rounds on specialist Gastroenterology wardPerform elective endoscopic procedures (colonoscopy, gastroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy)and be competent in most interventional endoscopy techniques.
