On 1st August 2025, Morecambe Bay Primary Care Collaborative (MBPCC) - your local not-for-profit GP federation - will begin supporting the patients of Coniston for a 12-month period, while a longer-term provider is secured. The surgery is going to be open 5 days a week, with no lone working at any time. Your working hours will be between 08:00 AM -> 18:30 PM, Monday to Friday.
Job Summary
We are looking to recruit an experienced General Practice Administrator to work as part of a team providing a full administrative service.
To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include, but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, the processing of information and assisting patients as required.
To act as the central point of contact for patients, be responsible for the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaise with multi-disciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.
Key requirements of the role:
The following are the core responsibilities of the Receptionist. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system
Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments
Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers' request appropriately
Signpost patients to the correct service
Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies
Code data on the clinical IT systems
Photocopy documentation as required
Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
Input data into patients' healthcare records as necessary
Direct requests for information, i.e., SAR, insurance/solicitors' letters and DVLA forms to the administrative team
Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner
Carry out system searches as requested
Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards
Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested

In the performance of the duties outlined in this , the post-holder may have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers and other healthcare workers. They may also have access to information relating to the service as a business organisation. All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential
Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the service may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with MBPCC policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data

The post holder will:

Qualifications:
Essential -
Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
Desirable -
GCSE Mathematics and English (C or above)
AMSPAR Receptionist Qualification
NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care
Experience:

Experience in General Practice Administration
Experience of working with the general public

Experience of administrative duties within a General Practice environment
Experience of working in a healthcare setting
