Assist the nursing needs of patients and provide appropriate care-treatment in conjunction with team members, the GP or independently, as appropriate and in accordance with practice policy and protocols.
Undertake general nursing care of the patients within the surgery to include:
Administration of wound care - assessment and planning management in conjunction with patient.
Ear examination and irrigation.
Venepuncture, if Phlebotomist not available.
Recording of ECG's.
Provide patient education on health promotion, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes.
Provide travel vaccinations, information and advice (with relevant training)
Provide 'Well Woman' services to include cervical smear taking, swabs, basic contraceptive advice, pessary changes and coil removals. *in-house training provided if needed.
Provide care to those patients with chronic diseases (CHD, Hypertension, Asthma, Diabetes, COPD)
Administer vaccinations as per PGD to include childhood immunisation.
Administer regular injections as per PSD/practice protocols.
Provide Doppler assessment for those patients requiring accurate diagnosis of leg ulcer treatment.
Other delegated duties considered appropriate for the post
Evaluate the outcome of care, make changes to the care plan for individual patients and modify care in conjunction with patient and/or family.
Co-operate and participate in any Research Projects or Audit Work where appropriate.
Co-operate and participate in the development of the nurse role within the Practice.
Report any concerns or considerations to the Lead Nurse.
