Salary: 24,796 - 25,989 per annum, pro rata (GTA) 12.65 per hour (MSA)


Grade: GTA - Grade C (scale point 3-6), MSA - Grade A (scale point 2)


Contract: Fixed term contract to End of December 2026


Hours: GTA - 25 hours per week TTO 39 wks, MSA - 5 hours per week, TTO 38 wks


Location: Darlington, North Yorkshire





The Head Teacher and Governors of Croft Church of England Primary School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, creative and committed General Teaching Assistant to work in Early Years.

We are looking for a candidate who is:




Dedicated to high standards of care, learning, and development for children in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). An enthusiastic and flexible team player with the desire to motivate and inspire young learners through play-based experiences. An excellent communicator with a secure understanding of early language, early maths, and phonics, supporting the foundations of learning in line with the EYFS. Able to contribute to observation, assessment, and tracking of children's progress, supporting next steps and delivering targeted interventions. Skilled in creating enabling environments and offering curriculum strengths that enhance our Early Years provision. Able to work collaboratively and support colleagues in delivering high-quality early education. Energetic, positive, and adaptable, with a strong 'can-do' attitude. Ambitious with a desire to develop professionally within Early Years education. Warm, approachable, and personable, with a good sense of humour. Willing to support and promote the Christian ethos and values of our school.



The role will involve:




Working under the direction of the Early Years Lead to assist in planning, delivering, and evaluating play-based learning experiences. Supporting small-group and individual interventions, including early phonics, language development, and numeracy activities, with clear objectives and outcomes. Contributing to observations and assessments, helping to inform planning and ensure progress across the seven areas of learning. Assisting in creating stimulating indoor and outdoor environments that promote curiosity, independence, and resilience. Providing support for the class teacher in areas of curriculum strength that meet the needs of the Early Years setting. Establishing positive, respectful relationships with children, families, and colleagues, and communicating effectively with all stakeholders. Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of pupils in line with statutory requirements and school policy, raising concerns as appropriate.
