About the role


Be part of this 'once in a generation' project that will deliver clean energy to 6 million homes for the next 60 years. Sizewell C will see the creation of a 3.2 Gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast to provide reliable load low-carbon electricity.

The Civil Works Alliance is an extended delivery enterprise involving Sizewell C and three international construction companies: Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O'Rourke.

What you'll be doing


Responsible for supporting the delivery of enabling and geotechnical works including diaphragm walls, cut-off walls, and deep shafts. Duties include reviewing subcontractor documentation, managing ground investigation data, and ensuring compliance with design standards. The role involves on-site liaison with contractors, assessing geotechnical risks, and providing technical support throughout construction. Reporting to the CWA Geotechnical Manager.

Support the delivery of enabling works and earthworks, including diaphragm walls, plastic cut-off walls, slabs, embankments, trench stability, and deep shafts
Attend site inspections and liaise closely with contractors to ensure works are executed in accordance with specifications
Ensure compliance with relevant design standards, codes of practice, and project specifications
Review and assess method statements, RAMS, and design deliverables provided by specialist subcontractors and manage geotechnical quality assurance
Support the management and coordination of ground improvement and investigation data, as well as geotechnical instrumentation
Assist in the assessment of temporary works
Liaise with designers, construction teams, and client representatives to resolve site issues
Conduct geotechnical assessments and interpret ground investigation data to inform design and construction decisions
Monitor and manage geotechnical risks during construction, providing ongoing technical support to site teams
Prepare geotechnical reports, risk assessments, and method statements
Contribute to safety by identifying and mitigating ground-related hazards


Who we're looking for




Degree-qualified in Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline
Working knowledge of temporary works processes and permit-to-load procedures
Experience in piling and large-scale earthworks
Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or nuclear projects (desirable)
Familiarity with site-based geotechnical activities such as ground improvement, diaphragm wall construction, dewatering, or excavation support
Ability to interpret geotechnical reports and apply ground investigation data in practice
Strong communication and coordination skills
Possession of a valid CSCS card; familiarity with CDM Regulations and UK geotechnical standards
