We offer a GIS Trainee / Intern programme designed to provide a structured learning environment for building strong practical knowledge across modern geospatial applications. This role is ideal for students, graduates, or early-career professionals who want hands-on experience with industry-relevant GIS tools, real-world project exposure, and emerging geospatial technologies.
The programme includes guided project-based training and hands-on practice across multiple GIS software platforms and technology stacks, tailored to the trainee's interests and career goals.
Core Learning Areas & Responsibilities
GIS Fundamentals & Spatial Concepts
Understand fundamentals of spatial data models and GIS principles
Learn how to use GIS software for mapping, visualization, and spatial analysis
Find, organize, manage, and maintain GIS datasets
Work with coordinate systems, projections, and spatial tables
Perform selection, querying, and editing of spatial datasets
Create basic maps and publish outputs using GIS software
Python Automation for GIS
Automate geospatial workflows using Python-based libraries, including GeoPandas, Rasterio, ArcPy, PySAL, FastAPI
Spatial Databases & Data Engineering
Work with PostgreSQL + PostGIS for spatial data management
Handle time-series and spatio-temporal datasets using TimescaleDB
Learn spatial indexing, querying, and performance optimization
Web GIS & APIs
Develop and publish web-based GIS applications using GeoServer, Django, CesiumJS, Mapbox, Leaflet
Build and consume geospatial APIs for data access and visualization
Digital Twin & 3D GIS Technologies
Work with Digital Twin systems, including IoT data integration, real-time analytics, and simulations
Learn 3D GIS and BIM integration using CesiumJS, Potree, and Revit
Mobile & Field GIS Applications
Build and deploy mobile GIS survey applications using React Native
Support field data collection and synchronization workflows
Who Should Apply
Students or graduates in GIS, Geomatics, Geography, Computer Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related fields
Candidates with a strong interest in geospatial technologies and spatial analytics
Beginners welcome -- curiosity and willingness to learn are key
Basic programming knowledge (Python preferred) is an advantage but not mandatory
