Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Glazier to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and replacing glass, conducting surveys, and performing bead work in commercial, residential and industrial buildings. You will ensure high-quality workmanship, safety compliance, and excellent customer service.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Measure, survey, and assess glass installation and repair requirements on-site
- Cut, shape, and fit glass for windows, doors, partitions, and other fixtures according to specifications
- Install glass in new constructions and renovation projects, including bead work and sealing.
- Repair and replace broken or damaged glass efficiently and safely.
- Perform bead work to secure glass panels and ensure proper insulation and finish.
- Conduct surveys to determine the scope of work, materials needed, and site conditions.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
- Provide advice and recommendations to clients on glass types, bead work, and maintenance.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople and maintenance staff.
- Keep accurate records of work performed and materials used.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
NVQ or equivalent in Glazing or related trade
Certification:
CSCS Card
Experience:
o Experience in surveying and bead work is essential
o Hands-on experience in installing, repairing, and replacing various types of glass in residential, commercial, or industrial settings
o Experience working safely at heights, often on scaffolding or ladders, and navigating active construction environments.
Knowledge:
o Understanding different types of glass (e.g., tempered, laminated, double-glazed, toughened, insulated) and their appropriate applications.
o Knowledge of glass specifications, standards, and safety considerations.
Skills:
o Proficiency in measuring, cutting, fitting, and installing various types of glass.
o Skilled in bead work, sealing, and finishing techniques.
o Ability to survey sites accurately and assess installation requirements.
o Competence in handling and maintaining glazing tools and equipment
Technology
o Familiarity with power tools and machinery and their safety features
o Be comfortable with smartphones/tablets for accessing work schedules and communication tools.
o Operation of modern glass-cutting machines, grinding tools, and automated saws, where applicable
o Ability to access and complete online health & safety training, technical courses, or certifications.
