Shirley Park Golf Club

is a renowned 18 hole members golf course sitting among the rolling hills of the Surrey countryside. The club was officially opened on 18th July 1914, by the then Lord Mayor of London, Sir Thomas Vansittart Bowater. The club has a membership of over 550 who enjoy the facilities of a bar and lounge area, two function rooms and a busy kitchen.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious, dedicated and engaging Course Manager to lead our greenkeeping team and manage the day to day golf course operation, presenting and maintaining the golf course to the highest standards for the benefit of members and guests.

Principal Responsibilities include:



To lead and regularly train the greenkeeping team in delivering the golf course, surrounds and playing surfaces to a consistently high standard. To have the ability to proactively recruit the correct team structure when needed. To present to the board regular course reports. To adopt a modern approach to greenkeeping with the desire to embrace the latest practices and technologies. Project management experience with a proactive approach to developing new course projects. Ability to demonstrate professionalism along with strong written and verbal communication skills. Build good communication channels with board members, club committees, members and the wider members of staff. Work closely with the General Manager and Golf and Greens committee. Ensuring health & safety, staff welfare and COSHH regulations and all other relevant legislation relating to golf course maintenance

Essential Skills & Qualifications



NVQ Level 3 in Horticulture or other recognised qualification in this field Up to date PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying certificates. Chainsaw qualifications Full, clean driving licence

Extensive knowledge and experience of the following areas:



Turf maintenance machinery Methods of pest and disease control Irrigation and drainage systems Use of Fertiliser programmes Building and implementing a course plan from 1 to 5 years with proven results.

Other tasks



? Keep an up to date stock records of machinery and chemicals.

? Adopt a GUR policy that meets the needs of members and guests.

? Regular communication with the wider team on activity on the course.

? Build good relationships with local businesses and residents that border the course.

A competitive salary and package will be offered to the successful applicant, depending on proven skills and experience within the course maintenance industry.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 42,000.00-48,000.00 per year

Education:

Certificate of Higher Education (preferred)
Experience:

Course Management: 5 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:

PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying certificates (preferred)
Work Location: In person
