Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled, creative, and passionate Gourmet Breakfast Chef to lead our breakfast service. This pivotal role is responsible for elevating the morning dining experience for our guests by crafting exceptional, innovative, and beautifully presented breakfast dishes. The ideal candidate will possess an unwavering commitment to quality, a deep understanding of flavour profiles, and the ability to manage a busy breakfast kitchen with precision and flair.
Key Responsibilities:
Menu Development & Innovation:
Design, develop, and continually refine a gourmet breakfast menu that showcases seasonal, high-quality, and often locally sourced ingredients.
Introduce creative and contemporary twists on classic breakfast dishes.
Develop and integrate a range of artisan pastries, breads, and baked goods.
Incorporate diverse dietary options (vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free) without compromising on flavour or presentation.
Food Preparation & Execution:
Prepare and cook all breakfast items to the highest culinary standards, ensuring consistent quality, taste, and visual appeal for every dish.
Oversee the mise en place for all breakfast service, ensuring all ingredients are prepared and organised efficiently.
Demonstrate mastery in various cooking techniques relevant to breakfast cuisine.
Quality Control & Presentation:
Maintain strict quality control over all ingredients and finished products, ensuring dishes meet the established gourmet standards.
Focus on exquisite plating and presentation to create a visually appealing and memorable dining experience.
Regularly check food temperatures and quality throughout service.
Kitchen Management & Operations:
Efficiently manage the breakfast kitchen section, including stock rotation, ordering, and waste reduction.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment in accordance with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations (HACCP principles).
Ensure all kitchen equipment is maintained and operated correctly.
Team Collaboration & Communication:
Work effectively as part of the wider kitchen brigade, fostering a positive and collaborative working atmosphere.
Communicate clearly and effectively with front-of-house staff regarding menu items, specials, and any guest requirements or allergies.
Assist in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff where appropriate.
Adaptability & Problem Solving:
Demonstrate flexibility in responding to guest requests, dietary needs, and unforeseen operational challenges.
Maintain composure and efficiency during peak service periods.
Skills & Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of demonstrable experience as a Breakfast Chef, Chef de Partie, or similar role in a high-quality restaurant, boutique hotel, or a similar upscale culinary environment.
Proven track record of producing high-volume, high-quality breakfast service.
Culinary Expertise:
Exceptional culinary skills with a strong specialisation in breakfast cuisine, including advanced pastry and baking skills.
Deep knowledge of diverse cooking methods, ingredients, and flavour pairings.
Creativity and innovation in menu development and dish presentation.
Knowledge & Standards:
Thorough understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations (e.g., Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate or equivalent is highly desirable).
Ability to manage inventory, control costs, and minimise waste effectively.
Work Ethic:
Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality, particularly with early morning shifts.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team under pressure.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
High attention to detail and a commitment to perfection.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Working Hours:
Typically early mornings, including weekends and public holidays, to accommodate breakfast service demands. Specific shift patterns will be discussed during the interview process.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: 12.50-14.00 per hour
