Governance Clerk
190 hours per year (average of 5 hours per week, 38 weeks per year)
Salary: Band 5, Points 7-9. Actual starting salary: 2,519.56 per annum.
Are you highly organised, IT-savvy, and passionate about good governance? Bridgwater and Taunton College Trust is seeking a committed and capable Governance Clerk to support the effective running of our local governing bodies.
About the Role
As a Governance Clerk, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and compliant operation of our governance structures. You will: Provide trusted advice and guidance on governance, constitutional, and procedural matters.
Prepare and support governance meetings across the Trust, including producing timely, accurate minutes and agendas.
Ensure policies and statutory governance information are kept up to date and well-documented.
What We're Looking For
Ideally, you will have: Previous experience of clerking or minute-taking at meetings, especially in a governance or educational setting although training can be provided.
A strong grasp of governance frameworks and the ability to provide clear, procedural advice.
Excellent IT skills, with confidence using digital tools to manage communication, documentation, and scheduling.
The ability to work flexibly to meet peaks of governance activity during the school year.
A willingness and ability to travel to meetings across Somerset, sometimes outside typical office hours.
A Level 3 Certificate in Clerking (or willingness to work toward this) is desirable.
