What does this team do?




We're more involved in our client's affairs than ever before, providing advice and services far beyond finances. In the Government & Infrastructure team we advise government and private sector clients throughout all their commercial processes. For example, procurement of new companies or negotiation of big contracts between the public and private sector.


Our team has significant experience of advising government and the organisations it works with on a wide range of topics. You'll have the opportunity to work on some of the largest and most important public sector investment projects in the UK, which have a big impact on the economy.

What skills and academic qualifications do I need?




In our Strategy, Risk and Transactions Advisory teams, we look for people who are curious and eager to learn. We believe that those that are most successful are people who are not afraid to ask questions, loves problem solving and willing to get involved.



You'll need to have obtained or be studying towards a minimum 2:1 in any degree discipline and have graduated by September 2026 for the Autumn 2026 intake.

What kind of work will I do?




In any given month, our graduates and Brightstarts in the team work on a wide range of impactful projects. As an example, some of our recent projects have included:

Supporting a central government department with commercial or financial analysis to enable them to assess the suitability of applicants for government grant funding Helping a client design a scheme to use public funding to support the growth of a new industry/sector. Supporting a major football club with financial analysis to support the decision-making in respect of the infrastructure investment needed to decarbonise their campus. Working with private sector clients looking to bid into government contracts (or with public sector clients assessing bidders) Drafting a business case to help a public sector client make the case for a major programme Assisting a public sector client to procure a renewable energy contract. Supporting a major utility in the acquisition of a renewable energy developer.

Where will I work?




At Deloitte we recognise how important face-to-face interaction is for your development in a new role. We also understand that our people need flexibility, which is why we operate a hybrid system, with a combination of office and home working. If you're in a client-facing role, you might be expected to attend client sites on certain days, while your meetings will be a mix of online and in-person events. Please note your final assessment and induction will also be in-person, to give you the opportunity to network and build relationships.

How will I develop?




Joining the Government & Infrastructure advisory team will give you a chance to develop as a financial and commercial advisor, while learning about the public and private sector. You'll work with experienced professionals on projects involving government agencies and infrastructure and gain expertise in commercial and procurement activity. You'll also, learn the foundations of funding and financing, and develop corporate finance skills that will support your clients.
