Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly organised Medical Receptionist to join our fast-paced reception team. This role is ideal for someone with strong communication skills, a patient-focused approach and the ability to multitask effectively in a busy healthcare environment.
As the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and healthcare professionals, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our front desk. You will handle high volumes of incoming enquiries, both in person and over the phone, requiring a calm and professional manner. Additionally, you will need to learn, retain and accurately share complex information regarding services, procedures, and patient pathways.
Main duties of the job

  • Manage a fast-paced reception desk, handling high volumes of patient and healthcare enquiries efficiently and professionally.
  • Process incoming correspondence from hospitals, community services, and other healthcare providers, ensuring patient records remain up to date and clinicians are well informed.
  • Schedule and coordinate appointments, ensuring optimal patient flow while managing multiple demands.
  • Respond to queries with clarity and accuracy, signposting patients to the appropriate services when needed.
  • Handle prescription requests, referrals, and administrative duties while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, dealing with urgent situations calmly and effectively.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team to support the overall smooth running of the practice.
