Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly organised Medical Receptionist to join our fast-paced reception team. This role is ideal for someone with strong communication skills, a patient-focused approach and the ability to multitask effectively in a busy healthcare environment.

As the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and healthcare professionals, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our front desk. You will handle high volumes of incoming enquiries, both in person and over the phone, requiring a calm and professional manner. Additionally, you will need to learn, retain and accurately share complex information regarding services, procedures, and patient pathways.

Key Responsibilities:



Manage a fast-paced reception desk, handling high volumes of patient and healthcare enquiries efficiently and professionally. Process incoming correspondence from hospitals, community services, and other healthcare providers, ensuring patient records remain up to date and clinicians are well informed. Schedule and coordinate appointments, ensuring optimal patient flow while managing multiple demands. Respond to queries with clarity and accuracy, signposting patients to the appropriate services when needed. Handle prescription requests, referrals, and administrative duties while maintaining strict confidentiality. Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, dealing with urgent situations calmly and effectively. Work collaboratively as part of a team to support the overall smooth running of the practice.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:



Proven experience in a reception or administrative role, preferably within a healthcare setting. Ability to quickly learn, retain, and share complex information related to medical services and procedures. Exceptional telephone and face-to-face communication skills, with a professional and empathetic approach. Strong IT proficiency, including the ability to adapt to new systems and software. Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to multitask effectively under pressure while maintaining a high standard of service. A team player with a flexible and proactive attitude, willing to adapt to changing demands.

Additional Information:



Full-time position (4 working days per week). Three days: 08:00 - 18:30, with a 20-minute paid coffee break and a 1-hour unpaid lunch break. One day: 08:00 - 17:30, with the same break structure. Generous annual leave - 5 weeks holiday entitlement.
