The Role
As a
Graduate Design Engineer
, you'll work from either our UK or Spain facility and collaborate closely with our sister company, Optimum Processing, Inc. (San Rafael, CA, USA). Your initial focus will be supporting Optimum Processing's engineering needs while building expertise in ONFAB's product line and contributing to new product development.

Key Responsibilities
Product & Assembly Design
Design containment systems and single-use assemblies using customer specifications and measurements.
Create and update 3D CAD (SolidWorks) and 2D CAD (AutoCAD or similar) models and drawings.
Build prototypes and validate design through testing.
Perform engineering calculations and ensure compliance with quality standards.
Documentation & Change Control
Maintain technical data packages, including drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions.
Manage design lifecycle and updates using ECN processes.
Create and manage part numbers in ERP/MRP systems.
Organise and maintain electronic technical documentation.
Technical Support & Collaboration
Support Optimum Processing with daily engineering needs and new product development.
Collaborate with Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, and Sales for design implementation.
Assist global sales teams with design evaluations and quotations.
Work with suppliers to gather component data, drawings, pricing, and lead times.
Help establish automation rules and design standards in SolidWorks.
Communicate technical information clearly to customers and internal teams.
On-Site & Off-Site Support
Provide technical support at ONFAB/Optimum Processing facilities.
Assist at customer sites with installations, testing, troubleshooting, and design data collection.
Resolve technical issues during planning, prototyping, and manufacturing.
Support prototype construction, physical testing, and verification activities.
About You
Required:
Degree (or equivalent) in industrial design, mechanical engineering, or related field
Good working knowledge of 3D CAD (SolidWorks) and 2D CAD (AutoCAD or similar)
Hands-on experience with drawings, BOM structures, and ECN processes
Strong communication and IT skills (MS Office)
Creative, organized, and detail-oriented
Ability to interpret engineering sketches and specifications
Preferred:
Experience with MRP, PDM, or ERP systems
Exposure to biopharma or containment technologies
Bilingual English/Spanish (required for Albacete; preferred for Middlewich)
1-3 years of CAD experience from placements or internships
