We have an exciting opportunity for a Paralegal within our Commercial Dispute & Resolution department supporting solicitors with all types of commercial litigation. The team is in a period of growth and Stephensons supports several routes to qualification (including graduate apprenticeships, SQE / LPC and training contracts). There is a clear focus on the development of staff to progress at Stephensons



The role:





The role involves working within the firm's Commercial Dispute & Resolution department. You will work under the supervision of the team to assist in the preparation of cases, including attendance at meetings, court hearings, and face to face meetings with clients. Cases are often fast paced. The team works towards tight deadlines and urgent court hearings.



What you'll be doing?




Attending and advising clients in all areas of commercial property litigation, contract disputes, builder / construction disputes and eviction / possession proceedings.

Assisting Solicitors in the department in effective case management, including (but not exclusively) drafting / preparing documents, letters of advice, court documents, witness statements, briefing counsel / advocates, undertaking legal research and attending meetings with clients or hearing at court. Will be responsible for responding to emails/post, telephone enquiries and queries from clients/insurers, other professionals/experts to progress cases effectively.

Control and management of work in progress ensuring that it is recorded and converted into paid profit costs under supervision and direction. Effective management of own time ensuring that non-chargeable and chargeable hours targets are met under supervision and guidance. Working with the team to continue to develop and expand the department by assisting with the generation of new work and maintaining existing work streams.

Provide regular contributions to the firm's website and regularly writing blogs for publication.

To actively promote the Stephensons brand.

Carrying out administrative duties as appropriate.

About You:





First we ask that you have a genuine interest in this area of Law. We will also require a relevant degree or relevant work experience to be considered.



You will also have:


5 GCSE's including English and Maths at C and above. Current clean full driving licence with access to a car is desirable. Ability to work as part of a team, both within an office environment and remotely. Attention to detail. Good standard of computer literacy, including use of MS Outlook and Teams. Organisation and time management skills with the ability to work under time pressure to tight deadlines. Excellent standard of communication skills both in writing and by telephone Ability to be reliable and flexible to suit the needs of the team and department. Discretion and ability to work in a confidential environment
