Falmouth, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Company Overview:

Keynvor Morlift (KML) is a UK-based integrated marine contractor, operating projects than span worldwide with a diverse fleet of barges, tugs, crane and utility vessels.

From a headquarters in Falmouth, KML's portfolio includes marine civil engineering, maritime salvage, subsea cable installation, offshore renewables, and specialist heavy lift operations.

Of particular note, KML's Rock Desk is increasingly managing the production, importation and delivery of heavy grade rock armour for coastal management projects in the UK and Europe. This often involves bespoke logistical management and highly specialist beach landings for the rock delivery barges.

The Role

KML are seeking a motivated and adaptable Graduate to work closely with our dedicated Rock Desk as a Project Engineer. This role offers substantial exposure to marine civil works and hands-on operational experience. You will assist with the planning and execution of rock armour projects from tender through to site delivery, contributing to safe, efficient and commercially aware project outcomes.

In this position, you will play a central role in coordinating the production, stockpiling and shipping of armourstone, visiting quarries across Europe to ensure conformance with project specifications. The position entails comprehensive delivery planning, management of shipping schedules, beach & port site inspections, monitoring of surveys, and preparation of operational documentation to support safe and effective works. You will be collaborating with clients, suppliers and KML departments, under the support and supervision of senior team members on the KML Rock Desk.

The role requires a confident self-starter with sound engineering judgement and the ability to use reasoning to adapt quickly within a fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities

Your work will span technical planning, on-site support and commercial development. Typical duties include:

Attending site visits to quarries, loading locations, vessels and marine construction sites, providing project engineering support where required. Working with the KML rock desk to devise bespoke beach delivery plans, considering tides, shoreline topography and vessel loading/immersion. Assisting in the preparation of method statements and operational procedures for rock loading, transport and placement. Producing and contributing to loading plans, deck layouts and simple CAD-based technical drawings. Supporting the procurement process by liaising with quarries, checking gradings and managing stock and material compliance. Reviewing and interpreting survey data. Liaising with clients and contractors to exchange technical information, update progress and help resolve operational issues. Assisting with tender preparation, including pricing inputs, technical content and supporting documentation.

Relationships and Reporting

You will work day-to-day with the Rock Armour Project Engineer, while also liaising with our lifting engineer, fleet manager, naval architect and Marine Operations Director. On live projects, you may report directly to the Project Manager or Operations Director, and may be delegated specific project coordination tasks.

Qualifications

We are looking for graduates with a degree in Engineering, Marine/Civil Engineering, Coastal Engineering, Geology/Mining, Mathematics or a related technical discipline. Competence in AutoCAD and strong numeracy skills are essential, alongside familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.

Personal Qualities

We value confidence, initiative and clear thinking. You should be comfortable managing your own workload, communicating effectively with colleagues and clients, and working flexibly around operational demands. A practical mindset and willingness to learn across all areas of the business are essential.

Desirable Experience

Knowledge of marine or coastal operations, quarrying processes, geological fundamentals, vessel or quay familiarity, survey interpretation, general engineering skills, or seamanship/boat handling would all be advantageous. A full driving licence and personal transport are also desirable due to site travel requirements.

Salary and Benefits

Starting salary typically 31,000-32,000, depending on experience, with structured progression as competence develops. Full-time position, nominal Monday to Friday working pattern, with flexibility around occasional weekend operations (weekend work paid pro rata). Principally office-based in Falmouth but with opportunities for travel. 28 days annual leave, including bank holidays. A clear training and development plan, with support for professional growth and future progression within the company.
