Job Overview


We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Graduate Safety & Risk Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an early-career engineer who is passionate about technical safety and risk management.

You won't be stuck behind a desk doing routine tasks. You'll dive straight into high-impact, real-world projects from day one. Working alongside experienced mentors, you'll apply your knowledge of engineering principles and safety regulations to assess and manage risks across a range of industries, including oil & gas, renewables, clean energy, and transportation.

This position is ideal for someone with a strong analytical mindset and a collaborative spirit, someone who's eager to learn, contribute, and grow in a consultancy environment where safety, innovation, and integrity are core values.

You'll be key to helping our clients design and operate safer, more sustainable assets, while also shaping your own development in one of the most critical areas of engineering today.

Duties



Carry out a diverse array of Risk & Safety services (i.e. ensure project delivery on quality, time and budget) under the supervision of the project manager. Participate in client facing and communication. Scribe workshops (e.g. HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, etc.). Perform safety assessment activities (e.g. QRA, FERA, EERA, etc.). Perform risk management activities (e.g. safety case, SCE, PS, etc.). Carry out other specialist studies (e.g. CFD, RAM, etc.). Support development of proposals and tender. Develop new Risk & Safety capabilities / skills within MES UK office, and maintain procedures / methodologies. Work as part of the team to train other junior engineers on different Risk & Safety studies. Assist UK Operation Manager with project planning, commercial activities (e.g. proposals, pre-qualifications) and administrative duties where necessary. Support the business strategy, development and marketing to expand the Safety & Risk services (e.g. by performing lunch and learn presentations, by participating to conferences, by publishing papers, etc.).

Experience


The successful candidate should possess the following skills and experience:

Relevant degree (e.g. Chemical or Process Engineering Degree). Ideally, a candidate will have a second degree and/or Chartered Engineer status. Ideally, knowledge of some industry standard consequence modelling and risk software, e.g. PHAST, Safeti, FRED, etc. Understanding of safety studies and risk management, e.g. QRA, FERA, safety case, etc. Ability to work well under pressure and independently as well as an all-rounder. Strong written and spoken English skills. Ideally, candidates will be able to demonstrate excellent report writing. Self-motivated thinker able to work both independently and as part of a larger team. Confident in presenting in front of clients (existing or new).
