Job Description

We are seeking a graduate teaching assistant to support our teaching team in delivering Level 3 to 7 courses to bioscience students. The Departments of Biomolecular Sciences and Applied & Human Sciences sit within the School of Life Sciences, Pharmacy & Chemistry, delivering a range of bioscience courses, including Biomedical Science, Biochemistry, and Biological Sciences. You will join a team of academics to support their teaching, lab practicals, workshops, and seminars. You will support the delivery and assessment on a range of modules in fully accredited bioscience programmes using a vibrant approach to education with increasing digital content that can be translated into real-world skills.


The Person

You will hold a 2.1 or above BSc (Hon) degree in a relevant bioscience subject, and familiarity with the R coding language is desirable. On a personal level, to support the learning of our students, and to develop your teaching practice, will be your core motivation. You will be determined to succeed and possess strong communication and organisational skills. You will use your experience to provide practical knowledge, that benefits students' future skills. Constantly seeking to improve, you will scrutinise your own work and work collaboratively to enhance the Faculty's reputation in higher education, and occupational circles. Students at Kingston University come from a broad range of backgrounds and educational experiences and the person undertaking this position will play a key role in allowing such students to realise their potential.

We have invested heavily in the development of new facilities, with our laboratories providing access to ultra-modern equipment and teaching facilities in areas such as biochemistry, biotechnology, cell and molecular biology, immunology, microbiology, nutrition, pharmacology, sport science (including biomechanics and an environmental testing chamber), chemical synthesis and analysis, pharmaceutics, specialist labs for pharmacy practice, pharmaceutical science and chemistry, a forensic scene-of-crime house and a pharmacy dispensing simulation suite.

This is a full time, permanent position with a starting salary of 33,538 per annum.
