Graduate / Trainee Timber Frame Designer

Location: Huddersfield

Salary: 25,000 - 26,500 starting salary

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00-16:30 (15:00 finish on Fridays)

Start Date: Immediate or upon graduation

At Frame-Tech Structures, we're offering a unique opportunity to join our team as a Graduate Trainee Designer. You'll work alongside experienced professionals, receive dedicated training, and gain hands-on experience with offsite construction and timber frame design.

What You'll Be Doing

Learn to create timber frame design drawings using specialist software (e.g., MiTek) Assist in interpreting architectural and structural drawings Support the design team in producing accurate and timely technical documentation Observe and contribute to the production of offsite construction designs Learn how to ensure compliance with UK building regulations and industry standards Participate in project meetings, training sessions, and ongoing professional development

What You'll Learn

Use of CAD and MiTek software for timber frame design Knowledge of modern construction methods and structural design Understanding of timber frame systems and offsite manufacturing processes Construction sequencing, detailing, and compliance Communication and collaboration with technical and commercial teams

What We're Looking For

Required:

A degree (or equivalent) in Construction, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or similar Understanding of CAD programmes Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office - Word, Excel) Excellent attention to detail and willingness to learn Basic understanding of construction or design principles Good written and verbal communication skills Team player with a positive attitude

Desirable:

Experience with Mitek Ability to read architectural drawings Familiarity with offsite construction or timber frame systems
