Overview

Redtronic Ltd is looking for a Graduate or Entry-Level Design Engineer to join our team developing advanced vehicle lighting and electronic control systems used by emergency services and automotive customers worldwide. You'll be involved in both new and existing product designs, supporting the R&D process and ensuring designs are manufacturable, functional, and aligned with company standards.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with SOLIDWORKS CAD skills, a passion for product design, and an eagerness to learn in a hands-on engineering environment. You'll work under the mentorship of an experienced Design Engineer, gaining end-to-end exposure from concept through to production. We're looking for someone with a can-do attitude who's ready to grow with the business.

This is an onsite role based in Elland. You must be able to reliably commute or relocate for this position. Working hours are Monday to Friday (08:00 to 16:30) onsite, with the option to work from home on Friday.

Key responsibilities:

Develop 3D product designs and detailed technical drawings using SOLIDWORKS, considering manufacturing constraints, materials, sealing, and assembly processes
Produce internal assembly instructions and supporting documentation
Create visual renders and presentation materials for internal and customer use
Contribute to design reviews and brainstorming sessions
Collaborate with onsite production teams to refine designs and processes
Assist in creating prototypes and samples for testing and evaluation

Essential skills and qualifications:

Experience using SOLIDWORKS (academic or professional)
Apprenticeship, HND/HNC, or degree (preferred 2:1 or better) in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
Strong communication skills
A willingness to learn and adapt
Work authorisation: United Kingdom (required)

Desirable:

Internship or project experience in product design
Experience using SOLIDWORKS Composer or Visualize (or similar rendering/illustration tools)
Experience using SOLIDWORKS PDM or other data management tools
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
