The Diocese of Leeds represents the Church of England across the whole of West Yorkshire, the western part of North Yorkshire, and small parts of South Yorkshire, Lancashire, and County Durham. This is one of the largest dioceses in England, covering an area of around 2,425 square miles and housing a population of around 2.6 million. The Role
The Diocese is seeking to appoint a Grant Funding Accountant, who will play a vital role in managing our grant funding. You will need to be a fully qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/ACMA), with excellent communication skills and an analytical approach. You will have proven technical expertise in both management and/or project accounting. You will have a good working knowledge of budgeting and cash flow forecasting. Ideally you will have experience working with grants in a multi-million-pound turnover charity but this is not essential. Reporting to the Finance Manager the key responsibilities of the role include:
Preparing grant application budgets.
Preparing grant monitoring reports.
Preparing grant funding claims.
Providing project/grant reporting to programme boards and external funders.
Ensuring sound financial management of grant funds.
Completing / reviewing of Balance Sheet reconciliations.
Preparing / reviewing accruals and prepayments.
Liaising with staff at the National Church Institutions and other grant funders as required.
The organisation is team orientated in their approach but enable team members to operate with a high level of autonomy. The successful candidates will enjoy freedom to get on with their role and work on their own initiative.
You need:
Previous relevant accounting experience.
Relevant accounting qualification.
Strong IT Skills, particularly Excel and finance systems.
Strong technical, analytical and reporting skills.
To be accurate and pay attention to detail.
To be forward thinking/proactive
To have strong interpersonal skills
To ability to consistently meet deadlines.
