About Us:

We run a range of community projects in Watford -- including a local gym offering free sessions for older adults, a tutoring centre supporting students from Key Stage 2 to A-Level, and community engagement programmes through the Watford Islamic Centre. We're looking for an experienced Grant Writer / Funding Officer to help us secure funding for these initiatives and grow our social impact.

Role Overview:

You will identify, research, and apply for suitable UK grants and funding streams to support our community, health, and education projects. This includes writing persuasive funding applications, managing deadlines, and maintaining relationships with funders.

Key Responsibilities:

Research and shortlist relevant funding opportunities (Sport England, National Lottery Community Fund, Hertfordshire Community Foundation, local councils, and charitable trusts).

Write clear and compelling grant proposals tailored to each funder's criteria.

Prepare supporting documents such as budgets, impact statements, and outcome plans.

Track applications, deadlines, and reporting requirements.

Advise leadership on funding strategy and identify best-fit opportunities for each project.

Maintain a simple record of applications and outcomes.

Essential Experience:

Proven success in securing UK community, charity, or education grants.

Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to turn ideas into fundable proposals.

Familiarity with major UK funders (Sport England, National Lottery, local authority schemes, charitable foundations).

Excellent organisation and time management.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Desirable Skills:

Experience working with faith-based or community sports organisations.

Knowledge of Watford / Hertfordshire local funding landscape.

Comfortable engaging with local councils and funders.

Pay: 24,420.00-48,140.84 per year
