Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Grinder to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the precise grinding of metal components, ensuring they meet the required specifications and quality standards. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical processes and the ability to work with various hand tools and machinery.

Duties

Grinding of aerospace components to ensure parts are to drawing and of a high acceptable standard. Use of various inspection equipment, to determine size and surface finish e.g manual and electronic measuring equipment. Operate grinding machines to shape and finish metal parts according to specifications. Use hand tools effectively for tasks such as assembling and fabricating components. Perform quality checks on finished products to ensure adherence to design requirements. Maintain equipment by conducting regular inspections and performing minor repairs as needed. Collaborate with team members to optimise production processes and improve efficiency. Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean working environment at all times.

Knowledge and Skills

Proficient in the use of hand tools and machinery related to grinding. Strong mechanical knowledge, with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues. Ability to grind materials accurately, ensuring high-quality finishes on all products. Familiarity with tooling processes and techniques used in metalworking. Basic maths skills for measuring dimensions and calculating tolerances effectively.

Experience and Education

Qualifications

- Previous grinding experience
- Good knowledge of grinding wheel grades, types and cutting data
- Apprenticeship trained and completed (NVQ/City and Guilds qualified)
- Understand and interpret technical drawings

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 16.00-16.20 per hour

Expected hours: 39 per week
