Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Stable Hand to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily care and maintenance of horses and the surrounding stables, ensuring a safe, clean, and well-organised environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about animal care and horticulture, with a focus on maintaining the health and wellbeing of our equine residents. The position involves hands-on work in a rural setting, requiring physical stamina and mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

Feeding, watering, and grooming horses to ensure their health and wellbeing Cleaning stables, yards, and tack rooms regularly to maintain hygiene standards Assisting with horse exercise routines and basic training activities Performing routine maintenance on stable equipment and facilities Using hand tools, power tools, and basic mechanical knowledge to repair or adjust equipment as needed Managing irrigation systems for pasture and garden areas to promote healthy growth Conducting minor repairs on fencing, gates, and other structures using appropriate tools Assisting with general horticultural tasks such as planting, pruning, and landscape maintenance Monitoring animal health and behaviour; reporting any concerns to senior staff Heavy lifting of feed bags, hay bales, or equipment as required for daily operations

Requirements

Prior experience in animal care or stable management is preferred but not essential; training will be provided Mechanical knowledge and familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and equipment repair are advantageous Basic maths skills for measuring feed quantities or medication dosages Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently Knowledge of horticulture practices for pasture management and garden upkeep Understanding of irrigation systems and general maintenance procedures Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in daily tasks Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a rural environment Physical fitness to handle long hours on your feet in outdoor conditions
This role is ideal for motivated individuals who enjoy working outdoors with animals and machinery. All positions are paid accordingly.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 15.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 13 per week
