We are recruiting for a Ground Investigation Technician

to join our team in Ross-on-Wye. Whether you have experience or are just starting out, this role offers a great opportunity to grow with us.

Key Responsibilities:

Work in a team carrying-out all aspects of intrusive ground investigation. Operate drilling rigs including tracked and hand-held window sampling. Use hand augers, excavation tools, and small plant such as breakers. Conduct in-situ field tests including shear vane, penetrometer, and Macintosh probe. Log soils and collect samples for laboratory testing including sample logistics. Learn CCTV camera surveys of drainage systems. Reinstate surfaces to satisfaction of clients. Perform regular maintenance tasks and share driving. Set up and manage project sites, monitor progress, and ensure safety.

Ideal Candidate:

Strong work ethic and ability to follow instructions precisely. Physically fit and able to handle moderate physical work. Confident in operating plant and machinery. Polite and professional communication skills, especially with clients. Punctual, reliable, and committed to safety. Interest in geography, geology, construction, or the environment. Clean manual driving license and willingness to share driving a large van.

Additional Information:

Our sites are throughout the UK and may involve away travel although mainly based in the West and Midlands. Jobs typically involve early starts (7am) and returning late-afternoon, usually 6-8 hours door-to-door. The salary is based on a 40 hour contract. Ideally, you will live within a short drive of Ross-on-Wye or Gloucester.
