Job Overview


We are looking for an experienced

Ground Worker / Civil Engineer

to carry out highways and utility-based civil works, with a strong focus on

street lighting, electrical ducting, and associated infrastructure

. This role involves hands-on excavation, reinstatement, and installation works on public highways and live environments.

Responsibilities



Carry out

excavation works on highways and footways

for utilities including street lighting, electrical cables, and ducting Install and maintain

street lighting columns, feeder pillars, and associated.

Lay ducts, draw pits, chambers, and service routes to required specifications Assist with

cable installation, jointing prep, and backfilling

Perform

reinstatement works

(tarmac, concrete, paving, slabs) to highways standards Work safely around live services including

electricity, gas, water, and telecoms

Read and work from

drawings, plans, and job specifications

Set up and maintain

safe work zones

, barriers, and signage Operate tools and plant such as breakers, compactors, and mini-diggers (where qualified) Ensure all works comply with

health & safety regulations

, method statements, and risk assessments Report progress, issues, and hazards to supervisors or site managers

Skills



Proven experience in

groundworks and civil engineering

within highways or utility environments Strong knowledge of

civil works.

Experience digging and working around

live utilities

Competent in

highway reinstatement

methods and materials Ability to work both

independently and as part of a team

Good understanding of

site safety and public-facing work

Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all conditions (yes, even British weather)

Qualifications (Preferred but Not Always Essential)



CSCS Card NRSWA (Street Works) CPCS or NPORS (Plant tickets) First Aid at Work Manual Handling Abrasive wheels
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 120.00-150.00 per day

Work Location: In person
