You will be expected to carry out a range of duties which will include the direction of staff and the completion of tasks to a high standard within a reasonable time frame.



You must have established experience in grounds maintenance service activities and preferably have good plant knowledge, experience with all types of horticultural machinery, a PA1/6 pesticide application certificate and the ability to prioritise tasks and motivate squad members.



As an individual and or team member, you will perform maintenance tasks throughout the Perth area such as grass and hedge cutting with various implements, pesticide application and litter collection. Candidates should have horticultural background with good plant knowledge. You may also be required to carry out other duties such as assisting with burials, street sweeping, refuse collection and any other Environment Service's tasks as and when required.



You must be able to demonstrate the ability to competently operate and maintain a ride on grass cutting machine plus all other typical GM machinery.



You must be a team player who understands the importance of good morale and proactively pursues good professional relationships with colleagues.



You must be able to carry out the physical demands of the post.



You must be able to do any paperwork associated with the post e.g. timesheets, work schedules, maintenance records etc. Knowledge of computers/smartphones would also be beneficial.



The Environment Service operates new ways of working, which is a variable shift system involving annualised hours, longer hours in summer and shorter in winter. The post is Wed - Sat week 1 and Thurs - Sat week 2, based at Blairgowrie Depot.

Skills & Experience Required

You will be aware of Road Transport Regulations, you will be able to carry out the physical demands of the job, and as a representative of the Council, you will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the public as well as colleagues.



You will bring a positive energy; have the ability to work well as part of a team. You will be aware of Health & Safety legislation, you will have effective visual skills with the ability to ensure the safety of other road users and pedestrians, you will have the ability to carry out vehicle inspections, ensuring that your vehicle is safe to drive and meets all legal requirements. You will have the ability to operate and to navigate in and around the Perth & Kinross area.



A C1+E Licence is essential.



PA1/6 pesticide application certificate.

C1 + E Licence, CPC Card and a Digital Tachograph Card.
