We are seeking a skilled and motivated Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our growing team. Job Responsibilities:
As a Grounds Maintenance Operative, your primary duties will include:
- Grounds Maintenance: General upkeep of green spaces, including mowing, strimming, hedge trimming, and weed control.
- Fencing Installation and Repair: Erecting and maintaining various types of fences (timber, metal, chain link, etc.), ensuring quality and longevity.
- Arboriculture Support: Carrying out small tree maintenance tasks, such as pruning, trimming, and handling minor tree removal or planting.
- Outdoor Works: Assisting with hard landscaping, such as laying turf, gravel, and minor path or drainage works.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Adhering to safety guidelines and using protective equipment while working on-site.
- Equipment Operation: Operating and maintaining tools and machinery safely and efficiently, including mowers, chainsaws, hedge cutters, and other relevant equipment.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance, fencing, or related outdoor work.
- Basic arboriculture skills, including tree pruning and trimming (certificates in chainsaw use and tree care are an advantage).
- Knowledge of fencing techniques and materials.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools safely.
- Full UK driving licence (essential).
- Physical fitness and a strong work ethic.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of work.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Qualifications (Not Essential):
- Chainsaw certification (CS30/31 or equivalent).
- First aid certification.
- PA1/PA6 spraying licence.
- Experience with machinery such as mini diggers or tractors.
