Grounds Maintenance Team Leader

Job Description

As Grounds Maintenance Team Leader, it will be your role to directly manage a team of up to 20 Grounds Maintenance Operatives in a defined geographical area to deliver a variety of onsite maintenance activities through effective performance management, motivation and development of staff.



Reporting to the Grounds Maintenance Manager, you will provide technical input and support to the wider team to ensure activities are completed in line with planned maintenance schedules.



You will have no budget management. You will have direct interface with internal and external customers.


Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Manage a team of up to 20 Grounds Maintenance Operatives including a number of temporary workers during the summer growing season, covering all aspects of attendance, disciplinary and performance management Assist in the development of daily plans in order to achieve the Grounds maintenance plan for each site Assist in the development of the winter work plan for the area Carry out physically demanding tasks in an outdoor environment Record the work completed on a corporate system Adhere to Health and Safety requirements and to comply with regulations and internal company policy Identify any site standards improvements and winter work during the scheduled visits Ensure we continue to understand the needs of our customers and drive high levels of customer satisfaction Share best practice and drive consistency across the region Building and maintaining a strong relationship with the site teams and encourage the team to co-operate and work flexibly with each other Maintaining strong communications across a large geographical area Engagement of Grounds Maintenance team on issues such as biodiversity, Environmental legislation and H&S Ensure compliance with H&S through audits and risk assessment reviews Carry out team briefs, appraisals and 1-2-1's

Technical Skills & Experience

Good technical knowledge of grounds maintenance equipment and herbicide use Technical knowledge of grounds maintenance skills and techniques Good understanding of herbicide legislation and H&S policies and processes Excellent leadership and communication skills A high degree of social skills for working in a customer oriented environment Demonstrate practical experience in an outdoor and experience in using machinery such as ride on mowers, strimmers, blowers and hedge cutters Experience in Information Technology and the use of computers and software Hold accredited grounds maintenance qualifications such as City & Guilds, Lantra etc. You will be expected to achieve Pesticide Application PA1 & PA6

A full Driving Licence will be required as there will be 2 sites within the Manchester region you will commute between with Davyhulme being the main location.
