During the winter season, the position shifts to support the engineering team with indoor maintenance and snow/ice management. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys varied, hands-on work across both grounds care and general maintenance.
Key Responsibilities: Spring, Summer, and Autumn (Grounds Focus)
1. Landscaping and Lawn Care
Maintain all exterior grounds, including planting beds, gardens, planters, and ornamental features.
Perform routine lawn maintenance such as mowing, edging, trimming, and fertilising.
Prune shrubs and trees; weed and maintain flowerbeds and walkways.
Monitor and maintain irrigation systems, including minor repairs to hoses and sprinklers.
2. Hardscape and Exterior Maintenance
Clean, maintain, and repair walkways, patios, outdoor furniture, and exterior fixtures.
Sweep and clear debris from parking areas, driveways, and paths.
Inspect and repair exterior lighting and signage.
Conduct exterior painting and touch-ups on doors, walls, fences, and related areas.
Assist with setup and takedown of seasonal outdoor features such as patio seating or event spaces.
Key Responsibilities: Winter (Maintenance and Grounds Support Focus)
1. Snow and Ice Management
Execute timely snow removal from entrances, walkways, and emergency exits using shovels, blowers, or ploughs (if trained).
Apply ice melt or salt to ensure safe walking surfaces for guests and staff.
Monitor weather and respond proactively to winter conditions.
2. General Maintenance Support
Assist the Maintenance Team with indoor work orders and preventative maintenance tasks.
Perform basic plumbing tasks including plunging toilets, minor leak repairs, and unclogging drains.
Carry out minor painting, patching, and drywall repairs in guest rooms and public areas.
Move furniture, support meeting room setups, and assist with other heavy lifting as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
Experience:
1-2 years of landscaping, groundskeeping, or facility maintenance experience; hotel or commercial experience preferred.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with groundskeeping equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers) and basic seasonal plant care.
Mechanical Aptitude:
Ability to complete basic equipment repairs (e.g., blade sharpening, oil changes) and simple indoor maintenance tasks.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, lift up to 75 lbs, and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
Soft Skills:
Reliable, proactive, safety-conscious, and capable of working independently.
Licence:
Valid driver's licence required; experience operating snow removal equipment is a plus.
