Job Overview
Groundsman (Astro Repair & New Grass Pitch)
We're finishing a recycled 3G astro pitch and constructing a new natural grass pitch. We need a hands-on grounds man who can hit the ground running.
You'll:
De-lump & distribute legacy rubber, power-broom, local re-level, tape & PU-glue seams, patch, and finish infill on our 3G pitch.
Build a grass pitch: levels, light drainage tweaks, cultivation/seedbed, seeding & fertiliser plan, early irrigation, first cuts, line-marking, and maintenance schedule.
Operate kit safely (pedestrian roller, power broom, mowers, small tractor/implements).
Work cleanly on a youth site; follow safeguarding & H&S procedures.
About you:
2+ years in sports turf (3G & natural) or strong practical equivalent.
Confident with PU adhesives & sports seaming tape, patching, infill management.
Can read levels/gradients and deliver quick, budget-aware fixes.
Desirable: NVQ/LANTRA sports turf; PA1/PA6; tractor/telehandler tickets; first aid.
(Self-employed contractors welcome; enhanced DBS & references required.)
Job Type: Freelance
Pay: 16.00-30.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 5 per week
