Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Groundworker to join our in-house Groundworks team to support the delivery of our New Build housing projects across Southeast Kent.

This position will initially be a temporary contract role for 12 months, based on a day rate of 130-170 per day depending on experience.

The role

Working with the Groundworks Manager, this role will be responsible for delivering all drainage and groundworks activities for the project including external finishes like kerbs and paving, ensuing that NHBC standards / Regulations are adhered to, as well as our internal quality standards are met.

Your responsibilities will include but are not be limited to:

Interpreting and implementing construction drawings and technical specifications Site preparation and clearing including setting out and levelling of work areas Preparation, excavation and installation of various types of drainage include concrete and plastic systems as well as deep drainage Preparation, excavation and installation of a variety of foundation systems including strip and slab foundations Installation of road and driveway sub-structures Installation of kerbs and edgings Finishing groundworks including patios, block paving and tarmac Safely excavating trenches and ditches, and moving soils and aggregates around sites Operating a variety of plant machinery and vehicles, such as, Excavators, Dumpers, Rollers, Telehandlers, etc. Adhering to relevant Health & Safety procedures and risk management

About you

We are looking for a high performing individual with an eye for detail with a passion for quality, has the right attitude to work effectively in a team. The successful applicant will be an effective leader who is pro-active, self-driven and result orientated.

MUST have 3 years + proven experience in a similar Groundworks position delivering similar new build residential schemes MUST have experience of driving excavators MUST have experience of external finishing such as kerbs, paving, etc. Strong problem solver with the ability to lead and work effectively as part of a team Ability to Interpret construction drawings and technical specifications Strong capabilities of setting out and levelling using laser levels Confident communicator with the ability to deal with a wide variety of people and challenges. Hold a valid CSCS / CPCS card Ideally hold tickets for plant machinery and vehicles, such as, Excavators, Dumpers, Rollers, Telehandlers, etc. but not essential, as we can provide the relevant training Any of the following qualifications would be an additional benefit; abrasive wheels, manual handling, street works, first aid etc....

Candidates must have a driving License and own means of transport due to the varied locations of our sites you will be required to work on.*
