Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Foreman Groundworker to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in various construction projects, ensuring that groundwork is completed efficiently and to the highest standards. This position requires strong management skills, as supervising junior team members is part of the role. The successful candidate will work closely with other trades to ensure seamless project execution.

Duties

Undertake groundwork tasks including excavation, drainage installation, and site preparation. Manage and supervise a small team of groundworkers, ensuring that all work is carried out safely and effectively. Operate machinery and tools relevant to groundwork activities, adhering to safety protocols at all times. Collaborate with site managers and other trades to coordinate tasks and ensure project timelines are met. Maintain a clean and organised work environment, ensuring that all materials and equipment are stored correctly. Conduct regular checks on equipment and report any maintenance needs or safety concerns.

Requirements

Proven experience in groundwork or a similar role within the construction industry. Strong supervisory skills with the ability to manage a team effectively. Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to construction sites. Ability to operate relevant machinery (e.g., diggers, dumpers) is advantageous. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work under pressure. Relevant qualifications or certifications in construction or groundwork would be beneficial.
