The successful candidate will oversee all site-based activities related to drainage, concreting, foundations, and building extensions, ensuring that works are delivered safely, on time, to specification, and within budget. This role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge, and site coordination abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage day-to-day site operations on groundworks and civil engineering projects.
Oversee the installation of drainage systems, foundations, concrete works, service ducting, kerbing, hard landscaping, and structural alterations/extensions.
Ensure compliance with project drawings, specifications, and method statements.
Plan and coordinate labour, plant, and materials efficiently to maintain programme schedules.
Conduct and document site inspections, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
Monitor site health, safety, environmental, and quality standards in line with company and statutory requirements.
Liaise with engineers, surveyors, subcontractors, and suppliers to resolve technical queries and coordinate works.
Maintain accurate records of site progress, resource use, and site diary.
Support the preparation of risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
Report regularly to senior management regarding programme status, risks, and resourcing.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Site Manager or Foreman in groundworks and civil engineering.
Strong background in drainage, concrete structures, ground preparation, extensions, and infrastructure works.
SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
CSCS (Gold or Black card preferred).
First Aid at Work qualification.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and setting-out data.
Sound understanding of CDM regulations, temporary works, and HSEQ best practice.

Desirable (but not essential):
Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) or Supervisor qualification.
NVQ Level 6 or equivalent in Construction Site Management.
Knowledge of setting-out and basic surveying.
