Group Accountant (on Site Hereford)

Job Description

We're looking for a dedicated finance professional to be the sole financial lead for Manbro Developments (our property development company), The Shack Revolution (our wedding and events venue), and several residential property management companies. You'll manage all transactions and generate monthly management accounts across these diverse businesses, ensuring a varied and engaging experience as part of a supportive and welcoming team.

The role is office based, working Monday to Friday (3 days per week at our Hereford city centre office and 2 days per week at our Bromyard office) and will report directly to the Group Financial Controller.

The key responsibilities for this role will include:



Purchase Ledger / Sales Ledger Processing:



Publishing all purchase invoices, credit card receipts via Dext automative software for all companies, checking VAT and coding

Supplier statement reconciliation for all group companies

Raise sales invoices using Square till system reporting

Manage accounts mailboxes for several companies

Management/Financial Accounts Preparation:



Responsible for month end accounting, incl. bar stock, prepayments, accruals, deferred income

Monitor and review fixed asset expenditure

Investigate any P&L variances when comparing operational and financial systems

Responsible for VAT return checks

Manage bank, balance sheet and Intercompany reconciliations

Other Duties:



Prepare budgets and provide continual analysis of forecast vs actual operational results

Coordinate and manage the monthly sub-contractor timesheet and invoice process

Prepare mid-month and month end supplier payment runs for approval

Management of all business credit cards and expenses including onboarding

Liaise with customers, suppliers and staff to deal with queries on a timely basis

Process monthly payroll

Continuous process improvement

Undertake any other duties that may arise from time to time at the request of the Group Financial Controller - i.e. cost benefit analysis for new projects

Strong financial acumen with a good understanding of financial analysis, cost management and value creation.

Essential Requirements:



Relevant accounting qualification (Fully AAT qualified as a minimum)

Experience in business partnering

At least 5 year experience working in a fast-paced SME

Experience in processing payroll

Previous exposure to both P&L and balance sheet accounting

Desirable Requirements:



Previous experience of Xero

Previous experience of CIS and reverse VAT

Previous experience of stock accounting
