Overview:
We are seeking an experienced, proactive, and
tech-savvy Group Accountant
to manage the day-to-day financial operations of our serviced apartment business across the
UK and UAE
. You'll be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing accounts ready for external filing, managing payroll, credit control, VAT, and budgeting, while also bringing
fresh ideas and tech-driven solutions to the table
.
We want someone who doesn't just do the job, but questions how it can be done better. You'll be expected to
embrace automation, recommend new tools, and champion the use of AI
and smart processes to increase speed, accuracy, and efficiency across all financial workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
1. General Bookkeeping & Accounts Maintenance
Maintain day-to-day financial records for all UK and UAE entities.
Post and reconcile transactions across all accounts and ledgers.
Perform weekly bank and credit card reconciliations.
Manage multi-currency accounts with accurate FX handling.
2. Accounts Preparation (Pre-Year-End)
Produce monthly and quarterly management accounts.
Prepare clean trial balances and draft year-end statements for handover to external accountants.
Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
3. VAT & Tax Preparation
Prepare and file VAT returns in both jurisdictions.
Support corporate tax calculations and ensure documentation is complete for external filings.
Stay informed of changes in tax legislation in both the UK and UAE.
4. Payroll
Process monthly payroll for UK and UAE staff.
Ensure compliance with all statutory deductions, filings, and end-of-service obligations.
Liaise with HR or external providers as needed.
Handle payroll reports, bonuses, and adjustments.
5. Credit Control & Invoicing
Issue invoices to clients promptly and in line with contracts.
Chase outstanding payments, monitor credit terms, and report weekly on aged debtors.
Maintain up-to-date client account records and statements.
6. Budgeting & Financial Reporting
Collaborate with the Director to create and track annual budgets.
Monitor spend and highlight variances.
Produce weekly cash flow and performance reports.
7. Client Account Reconciliation
Reconcile guest and client balances including deposits, damages, and billing adjustments.
Track and report on all financial interactions with corporate and leisure guests.
8. Invoice & Expense Management
Ensure all supplier invoices are received, matched, and coded correctly.
Process payments and staff reimbursements.
Maintain an organised digital filing system for all financial documentation.
9. Innovation & Process Improvement
Actively introduce smarter financial workflows
- from automation tools to AI-assisted reconciliation.
Identify inefficiencies and propose scalable, tech-driven solutions.
Champion the use of new accounting technologies
and integrations that streamline operations and reduce manual effort.
Requirements:
Proven experience in a similar role, ideally in property, hospitality, or serviced accommodation.
Strong bookkeeping and account preparation background.
Solid understanding of VAT, payroll, and basic tax requirements in the UK and UAE.
Fluent with modern accounting software
(e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Dext, etc.).
Genuinely tech-savvy
- comfortable trialling, implementing, and managing financial software tools.
Detail-oriented, organised, and proactive in problem-solving.
Strong communicator with the ability to work across departments.
Desirable:
Familiarity with AI tools for accounting and reporting.
Knowledge of UAE payroll and end-of-service calculations.
Experience supporting a high-growth, multi-entity business.
