Staff role
We are supporting a key client in the appointment of an experienced and technically strong Group Accounting Manager to join their Aberdeen-based team. This is a newly created position offering the opportunity to shape and define accounting policy across a growing organisation.
This role is ideally suited to a highly experienced ACA / ACCA / CA qualified accountant with a strong background in technical accounting, audit, and policy development, and the capability to design robust financial controls to support statutory and shareholder reporting. Experience gained within a Big 4 environment or private equity-backed business would be highly advantageous.
The Role
The Group Accounting Manager will provide technical accounting leadership across the organisation, acting as the focal point for accounting policy, interpretation of standards, and governance. The position ensures compliance with statutory, shareholder, and financing requirements while supporting high-quality financial reporting and external audit delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the central point of expertise for accounting policy and technical accounting guidance
Ensure delivery of shareholder reporting and disclosures
Support monitoring and compliance with bank covenant requirements
Lead preparation and delivery of Group statutory accounts
Coordinate and support external audit activity, acting as a key liaison with auditors
Draft, maintain, and update Group accounting policies and technical papers
Provide technical support on complex or judgemental accounting matters
Ensure consistent application of accounting policies across all entities
Drive continuous improvement in financial reporting processes and controls
Skills & Experience
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CA or equivalent)
Strong technical accounting knowledge (IFRS and/or relevant GAAP)
Proven experience in Group reporting and statutory accounts
Experience working with external auditors
Exposure to bank covenants, financing arrangements, or shareholder reporting
Demonstrated experience drafting accounting policies and technical papers
High attention to detail and strong organisational capability
Confident communicator able to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong governance awareness
