WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT IN A JUNIOR BUSINESS SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN ROLE AT PICKERING
To support data-driven decision-making across the Pickering Group by generating actionable insights, maintaining data quality, and ensuring accurate reporting. This role will develop and refine business analytics through SQL, Excel, and BI tools, while collaborating closely with the Business Systems team and other stakeholders to meet organizational data and reporting needs.
Key Responsibilities
Generate, maintain, and refine regular business reports using SQL and Excel.
Assist in the creation and deployment of BI dashboards and analytics tools.
Collaborate closely with internal teams to understand and document their reporting needs.
Support data quality, validation, cleansing activities, and identify and resolve data issues.
Perform data import/export and automation tasks, including mass changes, using SQL and Python where applicable.
Provide first-line support for data and analytics-related inquiries from end-users, escalating issues when necessary.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
GCSE Maths & English C or above.
Experience:
Demonstrable experience using Excel, SQL, and familiarity with at least one BI reporting tool.
Skills/Competencies:
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, excellent communication, and ability to translate data insights for stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with Python/API for data import/export tasks.
Prior experience with Sage, Salesforce, or Qlik.
Key Skills
Competent in working with SQL queries, databases and implementing scripts for data manipulation
Ability to interpret and present analytics to users with varying levels of technical understanding.
Initiative-taking and problem-solving mindset.
