Job Description


Grafton Banks Finance is recruiting a Group Financial Controller for a professional services engineering consultancy with offices in central London on an exclusive basis. The role requires a maximum of 1-2 days in the London offices, 1 day per week in Croydon and the rest remotely. You will need to be an ACA accountant who qualified within practice and has since gained industry experience. Previous exposure to partnership accounting either within time spent in practice or since is an advantage although certainly not essential. This is the most senior finance position in the company and reports directly to the Partners of the firm. It\xe2\x80\x99s a \xe2\x80\x9chand on\xe2\x80\x9d number one if finance role in an SME, requiring the individual to be technically strong with FRS102, tax, compliance and reporting.

The purpose of the role is to manage the operation and management of the finance function, with responsibility for all statutory compliance, internal processes, and internal and external financial information. Provision of financial support to non-financial senior staff, including the Partners.

  • Manage a team of 5 Finance staff to carry out all financial processing and information functions, with appropriate resilience and financial controls
  • Provision of management information both routinely and on an ad hoc basis to inform decision making
  • Production of budgets, cashflow and other forecasts for operational planning and monitoring
  • Preparation of individual and consolidated statutory accounts for audit, and management of the annual audit process
  • Review and evaluation of projects from a financial perspective for audit and internal management purposes
  • Overseeing the payroll and pension functions, including benefits in kind
  • Cashflow forecasting and monitoring, and management of all banking arrangements and relationships
  • Management and supervision (in conjunction with the IT team) of all accounting software, including the Project Management system used by all employees
  • Management of the partnership and individual tax activities and liaising with the firm\xe2\x80\x99s tax advisers
  • Review and co-ordination of corporation tax returns and payments
  • Preparation of Partnership capital accounts and supervision of the related transaction processing
  • Supervision of VAT transaction processing and ensuring VAT compliance
  • Company secretarial reporting
