Role Overview



A newly created and high-impact leadership role, the

Group Financial Controller

will join the executive committee and play a central part in shaping the financial strategy of a fast-growing organisation. Working alongside a strong Finance Manager and FP&A Lead, you'll help build an agile, insightful, and scalable finance function.

This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and wants to make a real difference day-to-day.

Key Responsibilities



Act as a strategic finance partner to the executive team, aligning financial planning with the organisation's growth strategy Develop and lead financial vision, roadmap, and planning processes, including monthly, quarterly, and annual budgeting cycles Provide financial leadership across all business units, influencing decisions with clear commercial insight Lead financial modelling and scenario planning for key strategic initiatives and investments Own the preparation and presentation of consolidated financial statements in compliance with UK accounting standards and Companies House Manage KPIs and Board-level financial reporting to highlight performance and opportunity areas Oversee treasury and cash management, including relationships with banks and lenders Take ownership of corporate structure setup, expansion initiatives, and intercompany governance Ensure appropriate insurance cover is in place and managed proactively with brokers Maintain compliance with local and international tax regulations; liaise with advisors for global tax structuring Lead on investor and audit relationships; deliver a smooth annual audit process Drive financial due diligence on acquisitions, partnerships, and commercial opportunities Collaborate with internal quality and compliance teams to meet Dept. of Education requirements Support the Audit & Risk Committee with reporting and analysis Build and mentor a high-performing, scalable finance team

Candidate Profile



Essential Qualifications & Experience:



Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA) Prior experience in a startup, scale-up, or fast-growth SME Strong commercial mindset with a proactive, hands-on approach Broad technical finance knowledge, including UK GAAP, tax, and forecasting Experience working across international finance operations Excellent stakeholder engagement, especially with executive and board-level audiences Proven track record in financial leadership roles

Desirable:



Experience using Xero Previous exposure to the education, training, or apprenticeship sectors Intermediate or fluent Spanish M&A or investment experience Familiarity with compliance in publicly funded programmes
