As our Group HSEQ Manager, you will be instrumental in maintaining and continuously improving our integrated management system encompassing Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality, aligned with the prestigious ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015, and 45001:2018 standards. You will take ownership of ensuring the ongoing certification of these accreditations and others, playing a pivotal role in upholding our reputation for quality and safety with both existing and new clients

This is a key leadership position where you will have oversight of all operational works, meticulously supporting the process around Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), approving contractor RAMS, and proactively fostering a culture of best practices. Given our significant presence within the construction industry, a strong understanding of CDM regulations is essential to ensure compliance and promote safe working environments.

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will collaborate closely to guarantee that all health, safety, and environmental legislation is not only met but also embedded within our internal processes and effectively communicated throughout the organisation. You will also be responsible for managing all internal and external audits, driving us towards accreditation, and consistently monitoring our operational performance.

This role demands an individual who is not only highly organized and detail-oriented but also possesses exceptional communication skills and a genuine passion for fostering a safe and high-quality working environment. Your previous experience in a similar HSEQ role within a construction-related industry will be crucial to your success

This role requires travel throughout the UK and Europe.

This is a key position at Astra Group and carries with it a responsibility to maintain our reputation with new and existing clients.

Role Responsibilities



Health and Safety



Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety strategies, policies, and procedures across all office and operational activities Ensure full compliance with CDM regulations and provide expert guidance on their application Proactively monitor and continuously improve health and safety practices and procedures, identifying areas for enhancement Identify and understand health, safety, and environmental legal requirements that are relevant and ensure compliance. Effectively manage and maintain all relevant recognised accreditations across the group portfolio. Take overall responsibility for the implementation and adherence to robust health, safety, and environmental practices. Provide effective coaching and mentoring to colleagues and contractors. Support the review of RAMs, Construction phase plans, Traffic management plans, Safe systems of work and other key construction risk management documentation, and where required, produce. Prepare and submit compliant Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs) and provide necessary evidence to clients where required Embed a culture of conformity to Health & Safety policies and procedures across the business. Assume overall responsibility for the thorough reporting and investigation of all incidents and accidents. KSR

Auditing and monitoring



Plan, conduct, and document internal quality, environmental, and health & safety audits to ensure compliance with ISO accreditations Perform regular site audits of operational teams to monitor adherence to procedures and drive continuous improvement. Organise external independent health and safety site audits Assist in the arrangement and management of drug and alcohol testing programs.

Quality Management



Management of our Quality Management systems ensure Line Managers are following our processes Lead and chair the Quality Management Team, driving quality initiatives across the business adhering to our standards Identify and pursue new accreditations as required to support business growth and client requirements Support Line Managers in the process of quality-checking our products and services

Environmental Management



Ensure ongoing compliance with ISO 14001:2015 standards and promote environmental best practices. Manage waste streams effectively, liaising with waste management contractors to gather essential data for both client reporting and internal analysis. Drive initiatives to consistently reduce carbon emissions and implement innovative processes to minimise waste to landfill.

General Responsibilities



Contribute to the development and delivery of engaging health and safety training programs. Facilitate clear and effective communication of important information between Management, Departments, and Suppliers. Act as the Process Owner for the creation and application of necessary H&S permits, supporting the relevant team members Provide supply chain support to ensure alignment with our ISO Standards

Essential experience



Excellent verbal and written communication skills Good IT knowledge (Inc Microsoft Office/ Google products) The ability to work using your own initiative as well as working within a team Flexibility The ability to build relationships and influence people at all levels Problem solving skills Strong organisational skills Excellent punctuality Knowledge and understanding of CDM regulations Proven experience within a similar HSEQ construction role TechIOSH Accredited NEBOSH Construction Certificate Membership of IEMA or IOSH (preferred) Up to date knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 Preferred experience with UKAS auditing requirements Ability to make decisions under pressure and deal with complaints Ability to remain objective and provide factual and informative information. Clean and full driving license

Pay: 48,000.00-50,000.00 per year
