Job Description


As a GUI Software Engineer, you will use your skills in designing, developing, and maintaining software to get involved in creating cutting-edge applications, graphical software and data analysis using Microsoft Windows. You will join the R&D Software Team based in Oxfordshire and benefit from the opportunity to work remotely with occasional travel to offices near Bicester.

About the role

  • Developing application and GUI software covering the full software life cycle.
  • Capturing customer requirements, then designing, developing, testing and maintaining software, including the release process, version control of software releases, and bug management.
  • Working both as team member on larger software projects and managing own smaller software projects.
  • Adhering to company procedures and coding standards. Maintaining software traceability and use version control for all software and document changes.
  • Installing, using and maintaining tools and technologies (e.g., development environments) needed for software development.
  • Investigating ideas, suggestions and problems related to existing and new software products, communicating, and responding to ensure issues are resolved promptly and appropriately.
About You
  • Ideally, a 2:1 degree in Programming and/ or Mathematics, or equivalent.
  • Good understanding of C/C++. Understanding of basic data structures, C features and best practices for C/C++ development.
  • Able to understand and develop advanced mathematical algorithms in code.
  • Can demonstrate successful outcomes on working on a project, either autonomously or as part of a larger team during the process of obtaining their degree.
  • Able to investigate ideas, suggestions and problems relating to new and existing software and recommend ideas or solutions for change.
  • Genuine interest in software development with the ability to consider user requirements.
  • Able to use tools and technologies needed for development.
  • Knowledge of developing applications for operating systems such as Windows and Linux would be beneficial.
  • Any experience of AI, computer vision and/ or embedded systems would also be of interest, although not essential.
