The roles and responsibilities of a gym instructor are:
Planning and conducting fun, safe and effective fitness classes fo elderly group sessions and workouts for individuals and groups
Explaining and demonstrating exercises and how to perform them correctly
Designing exercise routines and workouts to suit all ages, abilities and needs
Designing training and workout plans for clients/gym users and helping them to reach their goals
Assisting the Well being manager for 1-1 and group
Supervising gym patrons and ensuring they are using the equipment properly and safely
Conducting orientations and fitness evaluations for our clients
Maintaining and overseeing the gym facilities and equipment
The skills and qualifications required for a gym instructor role include:
Practical and theoretical knowledge of sports and fitness
Gym level 2 qualification
ETM level 2 to teach classes
Ability to design and teach training programs
Knowledge of fitness and training equipment and first aid methods
Ability to assess a client's level of physical fitness and potential
Energy, enthusiasm, and dynamism
Time management, communication, and people skill
The capacity to motivate customers
A warm and outgoing demeanour
Strong people skills to interact with a diverse spectrum of people with various backgrounds and motivations
Thorough knowledge of the human body and nutrition and a passion for health and fitness
The ability to provide excellent customer service
Excellent oral communication skills awareness and understanding of safeguarding practice and policy
High levels of enthusiasm and drive
Problem-solving and stress management skills
The ability to use information technology for a variety of purposes such as record keeping, class scheduling, session reminders, sales and invoicing, client and group management, and client and group analysis
level 2 instructor minimum
Responsibilities and Daily Duties Typically Include:
Tailor advanced exercise programmes for clients individual and specific needs
Offer nutritional & lifestyle advice
Lead inductions and 'how-to' sessions for new members
Implement Initial Exercise Programming
Provide basic fitness testing
Interact with members - 'Walking the floor'
Promote classes, services and promotions
Offer technique advice and exercise alternatives
Work with higher risk clients with known medical conditions
Stay up to date with the latest techniques and best practice
