Job title: Gymnastics Coach (Level 1 / 2 / 3 - General or Women's Artistic)

Darlington Gymnastics Club is a large club - with around 700 gymnasts - and we've got a waiting list. To allow us to increase our capacity, we're looking for 1 or 2 extra coaches - ideally Level 2 WAG (or higher), but we're also interested in talking to you if you're Level 1 and ready to move on to Level 2.

Job purpose:

To provide high-quality, engaging gymnastics training session for recreational and squad level groups of gymnasts from all age groups.

As a member of the coaching team, contribute to the development of our service offering.

Key duties / responsibilities:

To be involved in the organisation and delivery of a varied and interesting programme of gymnastics activity, which motivates and encourages young people to participate. To support coaches in the planning and implementation of effective pathways that facilitate the retention of gymnasts in all aspects of the sport and allow the identification development of talent. Support the development and delivery of key events and activities held at the gymnastics club such as annual displays and in-house competitions. To follow all Club policies - with particular adherence to Health and Safety and Safeguarding and Welfare. Supervise and co-ordinate the work of, and development of, Level 1, Proficiency level or Volunteer Coaches. To undertake any other duties appropriate to the post.

Person specification

Essential criteria:

Level 1 Women's Artistic gymnastics qualification, and experience of working as a gymnastics coach. Good interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written). An understanding of how to develop gymnastic skills of children participating at all levels. Understand and demonstrate the skills required to ensure effective team working. An individual who will be a positive role model to other young people. Who can inspire and motivate others involved in sport. Willingness to commit to ongoing training - both in house training and external courses. The ability and willingness to work evenings and weekend on a regular basis as per the rota.

Desirable criteria:

Demonstrate a good understanding of how to develop gymnasts from recreational participation to development programme and squad levels of performance. Level 2 Women's Artistic gymnastics qualification. Level 3 Women's Artistic gymnastics qualification.
