Ilej? Homes is a growing property business based in Nottingham, England. We focus on improving living spaces for improved wellbeing and supporting community projects. We are looking for a reliable and skilled Property maintenance worker who takes pride in practical, hands-on work. Think plastering, painting, assembly and home decor to new bathroom installations as examples of tasks.
Role Overview
Sprucing up bedrooms and bathrooms will be your starting point. We are seeking a self-employed Handyperson / Property Maintenance Worker to carry out quality renovations, repairs, and property improvements. This role is perfect for someone confident with tools, problem-solving, and delivering good-quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
Carrying out light renovations and property refreshes
A keen eye for home decor and professional layouts for clients
Basic carpentry tasks (e.g., fitting shelves, repairs, adjustments)
Painting, decorating, and patch repairs
Basic plumbing tasks (e.g., fixing leaks, replacing taps or fittings)
Minor electrical tasks (e.g., replacing fixtures, fitting lights - within legal limits)
General property upkeep, minor repairs, and fault-finding
Supporting community and charity projects when required
Technical Experience Required
Applicants should have 5 years minimum experience with professional training in at least some of the following areas:
Basic carpentry and joinery skills
Painting and decorating
Light to medium renovation works
General DIY and property maintenance
Use of power tools and hand tools safely
Basic plumbing knowledge (non-licensed work)
Minor electrical knowledge (non-licensed work)
Ability to assess small repairs and recommend solutions
Experience preparing properties prior to tenant move-ins (essential)

Self-motivated, reliable, and confident working independently
Good problem-solving and practical thinking
Flexible and able to manage your own workload
A clean driving licence & access to own car/van
Positive attitude and comfortable joining community projects
Takes pride in producing clean, high-quality work
Pay & Hours
15-22 per hour (self-employed)
Typically 10-30 hours per week, depending on workload and your availability.
Flexible working based on project needs
