Our opportunity

Thales DMS Hardware Team who carry out Network Architect activities, have a really exciting opportunity for a Hardware Network Architect to join the team in Templecombe.

You will be supporting other members of the team, carry out more specialised Requirements Capture and Management through to network design, implementation and execution of the Requirement Validation activities.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

The role may include, but not be limited to the following activities:

Specify, Capture and manage the requirement set.

Define the Project Network architecture including definition of all protocols, Quality of service, addressing scheme and security measures.

Major electronics subsystems of Sonar systems. Mainly processing systems, Ethernet networks, consoles, audio systems and high power transmitters.

Define the Network Test & Integration Strategy.

Agree the Integration, Verification and Validation Methods.

Support the Thales team working on the projects throughout the lifecycle.

Work collaboratively with production and procurement to produce cost effective, easy to manufacture hardware solutions.

Provide support to the preparation of detailed estimates and bids.

Provide support to production as required.

Trials and integration support as required.

About You - Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

Good all-round technical knowledge Networking Knowledge / Project Engineering background.

Experience of designing IP based Networks

Network security knowledge

Linux experience (command line/scripting)

Requirements Management and Development Skills.

General understanding of Engineering Development lifecycles.

Good interpersonal skills

Proactive \xe2\x80\x9ccan-do\xe2\x80\x9d mentality

Ability to work in a team environment

Must have Microsoft Office suite experience

The individual will be expected to demonstrate a level of autonomy.

A logical approach to problem solving is required.

Strong demonstrated relevant experience or experience that can be applied to Network Architecture

Full Lifecycle experience (Capture, Design, Implementation, Test)

Additional Security Information

Due to the sensitive nature of much of the work, all applicants must be eligible for UK MoD Security Clearance (SC level minimum).
