About the Role
Black Country Innovate CIC is expanding its Hate Crime Awareness & Education Programme, and we are looking for a passionate, organised and community-focused individual with experience working in community settings, community safety, or hate crime work.
As the Hate Crime Awareness Support Officer, you will play a vital role in increasing awareness, promoting reporting routes, and supporting community engagement across Walsall and the wider Black Country. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact by helping build safer, more inclusive communities.
Key Responsibilities
Administration & Coordination
Provide day-to-day administrative support to the project team
Maintain databases, attendance sheets and volunteer records
Prepare agendas, resource packs and briefing materials
Manage communications with partners, venues and community groups
Organising & Planning Activities
Coordinate weekly Hate Crime Awareness Stalls
Organise monthly leaflet drops in hotspot areas
Support the launch and promotion of Hate Crime Reporting Centres
Arrange school assemblies, awareness sessions and staff briefings
Support targeted campaigns (e.g. Sikh, LGBTQ+, Disability, Women's awareness)
Attending & Supporting Delivery
Attend outreach stalls, events, schools and faith centres
Engage the public, explain reporting routes and signpost support
Assist and motivate volunteers and community ambassadors
Communications & Social Media
Help produce short clips, stories, infographics and awareness content
Promote campaigns using agreed project hashtags
Support the development of press releases and success stories
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
Collect attendance data, feedback and engagement figures
Record leaflet drops, volunteer hours and outreach activity
Support impact reports and case study development
About You
We're looking for someone who:
Has experience working in the community, community safety, or hate crime awareness/support (essential)
Is passionate about equality, inclusion and community cohesion
Is confident engaging with diverse communities and vulnerable groups
Is organised, reliable and able to manage multiple tasks
Can create simple yet effective social media content
Can work some evenings/weekends where needed
