We're on the lookout for a warm and outgoing Head Chef to join the team at Norley Hall Care Home.
Role Overview:
As a Head Chef, you will provide leadership and rota management within the kitchen team.
You will prepare menus and agree on them with our residents including any special dietary requirements, prepare and serve all meals in a timely manner.
You will also be responsible for ensure all meals are served to a high standard whilst maintaining your skills and undertaking such training and development as required.

Role Specific Duties:
Create duty rotas for catering staff ensuring there are enough skilled staff on duty
Take charge of the kitchen and uphold established standards
Order enough supplies for the catering operation from specified suppliers using company procedures and maintain strict control over costs
Operate an efficient stock control system
Ensure supplied equipment is used with care and in good working order, in accordance with supplier instructions and training, reporting any faults immediately
Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of those individuals the service supports
To encourage our residents and other staff to partake in daily preparation and cooking tasks working in line with the Household Model of Care
Drive consistency in food offerings and adhere to menu specifications
Demonstrate organisation and attention to detail for seamless service
Possess knowledge of Health and Safety food regulations, IDDSI framework and coach the rest of the kitchen team
Working with Others:
To develop effective working relationships with other employees and support and develop new and less experienced members of the team
To attend and participate in team meetings
To create a robust rota and manage this at all times
To lead, motivate and direct staff
To be responsible for the health and safety of yourself as well as others in the home under the Health and Safety regulations whilst promptly reporting any hazards or potential hazards to the relevant person
You will have the ability to work under pressure whilst being flexible and consistent
Under the supervision of the manager carry out annual appraisals for all catering staff
Educate staff on menu items for effective communication with residents and their families

Be a role model for other members of the team and be an ambassador for the service
Be professional, polite and reasonable at all times
To provide a warm welcome to all new residents, team members and all visitors and to familiarise them with the home
You will have strong communication skills, be cooperative and have excellent attention to detail
To lead by example at all times observing and auditing practices at least monthly
Assist in the recruitment of catering staff
Conduct staff supervision and personal development plans for catering staff
Induct new starters in accordance with company policy
Ensure up-to-date risk assessments and procedures for food-related takes are available at all times
Maintain confidentiality regarding residents' dietary requirements and personal information
Create a supportive environment that promotes morale and commitment to the home
Personal and Professional Development:
Attend statutory training and any other training as directed whilst being open to learning opportunities
Have a good understanding of dementia and how it affects those living with the disease
Have a basic knowledge of CQC and the fundamental standards
