With our headquarters in Gloucester, Direct Online Services is a dynamic and progressive eCommerce-led omnichannel retailer of kitchen products. Founded in 2009, we have enjoyed consistent levels of profitable growth since inception, primarily through our flagship brand Worktop Express, the UK's #1 online worktop retailer selling over 220,000 worktops per year to our B2C consumer base.

The business recently joined the EUR1bn+ global materials division of Broadview Holding (alongside Formica, Westag, Trespa, Arpa and Homapal), and are now looking to invest towards the future. We have significant plans to accelerate our growth over the coming years domestically and internationally, in existing and new product categories, both within Direct Online Services and also in collaboration with our Group colleagues.

This role is 14.32 per hour.

Job purpose



As a Head Driver, you will be reporting to the Transport Management Team. You will be responsible for ensuring that the depot you oversee continues to offer a marketing leading, next day delivery service using our in house fleet.
Each depot has its own fleet of 2 man delivery teams, offering a delivery service that ensures the highest levels of safety and customer service at all times.

Key responsibilities



Ensure the smooth running of all activities relating to the Depot Co-ordinate a team of drivers to ensure that our products are delivered to our customers on time and in perfect condition Ensure that health and safety is at the forefront of our employees minds when delivering our products. Work with the Health and Safety Manager to review existing processes and embed any new initiatives Understand the engagement of the team and put actions in place to improve where necessary Support the management team with legal compliance activities for the fleet of delivery vans and all MHE Be the main point of contact at the Depot for all other departmental staff To be responsible for all staff compliance issues at the depot with the support of the area co-ordinator

Key skills and attributes



Extensive commercial vehicle driving experience, demonstrating exemplary safety and professional standards A strong people leader who is an ambassador for the business Background within a home delivery network is desirable Strong communication/people skills and confident with managing a small/medium team of staff The ability to work to KPI's and achieve targets Possess initiative to solve problems Possess the ability to work as a team or on your own initiative Be adaptable, able to delegate but be able to be hands-on wherever appropriate Be flexible with a can-do attitude

Beneficial experience



People Management Forklift License would be an advantage but training provided IOSH Experience would be advantageous
